2022 Pi Mile 5K Road Race:
Weaving through Tech’s beautiful campus for another year, the Pi Mile Road Race is one of the longest continually held 5Ks in Atlanta.
Race History:
A 50-year tradition, the Pi Mile was originally named the Dean George C. Griffin Pi Mile to honor the longtime Georgia Tech track and cross-country coach. The first race in 1973 was 3 miles long and founded by alumnus L. McTier "Mac" Anderson, CL ’67. This was expanded to 3.14 miles after 1975 and is now a 5K race. Part of the race is run along the Tyler Brown Pi Mile Trail, a running course dedicated to former Student Government Association President Tyler Brown who ran daily for ROTC and was killed in action in Iraq on September 14, 2004.
