EVENT DETAILS: MARATHON   The Heroes of America Marathon course is a 26.2 mile course that starts and finishes at the National Infantry Museum. The start line and finish line are on the Avenue of Flags along the east side of the National Infantry Museum. The first 7.5 miles of the course are on Ft. Benning. The remaining course is essentially an out and back that runs along the Columbus and Phenix City RiverWalk.     Minimum Age Restriction for Marathon   The minimum age to register for the Heroes of America Marathon is 16 years old.  Most experts believe that training for and running a 26.2 mile race is best done after a runner has matured both physically and mentally.  Age 16 is the minimum age our race committee has decided for the 26.2 mile marathon   Start Time: 8:00am EST End Time: 3:00pm EST   HALF MARATHON   The Heroes of America Half Marathon course is a 13.1 mile course that starts and finishes at the National Infantry Museum. The relay teams start at the same start line as the other runners. There are three exchange points on the course: mile 7.1, mile 13.1 and mile 20.2. The first and third legs of the relay are longer at over 7 miles long while the second and fourth legs of the relay are shorter at a little over 6 miles long (basically a 10k). The lead runner on the Relay Team will wear a slap bracelet on his/her wrist. At each exchange point the runner removes the slap bracelet and hands it to the next runner. The last runner receives the slap bracelet and a race bib with a timing chip to get a finishing time. Each runner wears a Race Bib with the same Relay Team number (e.g. 5001A, lB, lC and 1D). The relay exchange points are accessible by car. Transportation for relay team members will not be provided by the Heroes of America Marathon. Relay exchange point #1 is on S.
