Come run or walk this scenic, gently rolling 5-Mile USATF Certified Course.  This loop course includes a portion of the Historic Trail of Tears route, is 99% paved and mostly shaded. And NEW in 2023 we’re offering a Virtual option!

This family friendly event sponsored by the Coopertown Community Development Committee conveniently starts and ends at Coopertown City Hall, 2525 Burgess Gower Rd., Springfield, TN 37172 in Robertson County. Runners and walkers are encouraged to come out and enjoy an early morning run or walk through the beautiful countryside of Coopertown.  Afterward you and your family will want to stay for the 8th Annual Barrel Festival taking place just across the road at Coopertown Elementary School. Our 2023 Festival will be a little different from years past; the focus will be on a kids zone, live music, and food! Parking and entry into the Barrel Festival are FREE!

Race day parking is at the corner of Hwy 49 & Burgess Gower Road which is catty corner from the starting line which is directly behind Coopertown City Hall located at 2525 Burgess Gower Road, Springfield, TN 37172.  There will be NO parking at City Hall on race day.

JUST A COUPLE RACE RULES

Strollers are welcome but we ask that you line up at the rear behind the runners.  And as much as we love dogs, for your safety and your dog’s safety, dogs are prohibited on the 5 mile course.  We would like to say this is a closed course (intersections around the 5 mile course will be blocked to traffic), however, we cannot guarantee that you will not encounter one of the locals trying to leave their residence during the race. So for your safety we recommend not wearing headphones. 

This is a rain or shine, heat & humidity event.  The average low is 64 degrees, the average high is 85 degrees.

We are not responsible for registrations lost in the mail. We strongly encourage those who sign up using a paper registration to do so before Friday, May 26, 2023. Check the list of participants for your name - if you do not see your name, you are not registered.

Sorry but there will be no refunds and no transfers. 

Photographers will be taking pictures race day. If you attend this event your picture may be used on Coopertown Festival related Facebook pages, websites and media pieces in perpetuity.

If you choose the Virtual event, you are not allowed to run in-person on race day. Virtual participants have until 9:00 p.m. to enter their finish time. All Virtual runners will be mailed their goodie bag and finisher medal within 30 days after the event on June 3.

THE COURSE

The start line is directly behind City Hall. To get a nice 5 mile loop course (without doing a boring out-and-back) we’ll start off by running on a short 200 feet long gravel path until we make that right turn onto Burgess Gower.  Since the 5 Miler has a common start/finish that means we'll run that same 200 feet of gravel to get back to the finish line. You'll need to watch the left side of the roadway where you’ll see Mile Markers spray painted in yellow on the pavement. From Nashville take I-24 West, get off at Exit 24 and head Right toward Springfield/Coopertown on Hwy 49 W. You'll travel about 5 miles. Parking will be on your Left directly across from Coopertown Elementary School which will be on your Right.

From Bowling Green take I-65 South, get off at Exit 104 and head toward Bethel Rd./Millersville/Ridgetop on Hwy 257. Bear Right onto Bethel Road, continue following Hwy 257 to Hwy 49 W. Turn Left onto Hwy 49 W. You'll travel about 1.4 miles (you'll go past Coopertown Middle School on the Right). Turn Right onto Burgess Gower Rd. and parking will be on your Left.
