There's no other race like it in the world!   We are back in-person & at the Sanctuary for the 8th Annual Save the Chimps Chimpathon 5K/10K!   Join us on Saturday, February 25th, 2023 at Save the Chimps for the 8th Annual Chimpathon 5K/10K! This race will be chip timed with a flat and fast course starting & finishing at the sanctuary!   Awards will be given to top finishers and all participants will receive a finisher medal, performance shirt & a goody bag filled with items from our sponsors!   Register 3 or more participants and receive a 10% discount! A distance for those who just want to run or walk around the sanctuary!   About Save the Chimps, Inc.   Save the Chimps is one of the largest chimpanzee sanctuaries in the world whose mission is to provide refuge and exemplary care to chimpanzees in need. Save the Chimps offers life-long care to more than 220 chimpanzees rescued from research laboratories, the pet trade, and entertainment industry.   Your support will help provide quality care to our beloved chimpanzee residents, including fresh and nutritious meals, exceptional veterinary care, innovative enrichment, and the social companionship necessary for the chimps to live happy and full lives.   100% of all funds raised from the 8th Annual Chimpathon will go directly towards caring for our residents.   Timing & Awards   The Chimpathon will be managed and chip timed by Southern Timing, LLC. All participants will receive live results and an individual finisher page complete with a commemorative finisher certificate, results, pace breakdown & a 20 second clip of you crossing the start and finish line!   Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female finishers in each category:   Overall   Masters   Age Group   10 & Under, 11-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 70 & Over   There will be no awards for the virtual race.   Packet Pick-Up is TBA   Fundraising   Did you know the annual cost to care for one chimpanzee is over $25,000? That is why every dollar raised counts for the Chimpathon, you can set goals for yourself or for your team! With our virtual race you can show your support from anywhere within the US! All virtual packets will ship Monday, February 27th following the completion of the in-person race. You can track your time using your own device or with the Asics Runkeeper App that we have provided for you. Times are not required to be submitted to receive your swag. You can submit your time anytime before or after the race.
