_ The 2023 Close to the Coast 5K & 10K:

The 26th Annual Race will be held on Saturday JUNE 17, 2023 at 9:00 am, At Winslow Memorial Park at the end of Staples Point Road in Freeport.  Race and awards are followed by a FREE after race BBQ with FREE food, live band and adult beverage tent for all racers and their families.   All events rain or shine. Both the 5k and the 10k begin at the entrance of Winslow Park and the course is run on quiet roads and the forest trails along the ocean in the beautiful Park. All registered racers will receive a free custom logo stein- The first 200 runners will receive a free t-shirt AND THE FIRST 25 RETURN RUNNERS WHO LEAVE US A 5-STAR RATING WILL RECEIVE A $5.00 GIFT CARD TO USE AT ONE OF OUR LOCAL SPONSORS LOCATIONS!!  Online registration ends June 15th at 5:00 pm.  IF YOU MISS ONLINE REGISTRATION, YOU CAN REGISTER IN PERSON AT EITHER PACKET PICK-UP FRIDAY June 16th (see below) OR AT THE RACE ON SATURDAY. REGISTRATION PRICE INCREASES AFTER THE 15TH TO $30.00.  DAY OF REGISTRATION OPENS AT 7:00 AM. WE ACCEPT CASH, CHECKS OR CREDIT CARDS. Attentions Walkers:  If you wish to walk the course you are welcome to do so in the 5K leg only. Please let us know if you plan to walk the 5K course.  Packet Pick-up/Same day registration opens at 7:00 am and is $30.00.  Same day packet pick-up and registration will be located in the covered picnic area next to the main bathrooms at the Park and will open at 7:00 am.
Pre-Race packet pick-up will be held on June 16, 2023 from 5-7PM at 40 Independence Drive, Freeport, ME.  Look for the tent! PRIZES: We pride ourselves on our unique Race Prizes, PIES from Valley View Orchard Pies! http://valleyvieworchardpies.com/wp/ The Top 2 finishers overall male and female for each race and Top 2 finishers in each race category (both 5k & 10k male and female) receive a pie! What better way to enjoy your pie then with your friends and family at a post-race barbecue! Race to Benefit Scholarships and Community Programs! 
ALL race proceeds support the Freeport and Yarmouth Rotary Club's Charity programs. For the past 25 years the Freeport Rotary Club has given over $220,000 in scholarships and we are so pleased to again work in partnership with the Yarmouth Rotary Club. Please help us continue this great cause.   For children, there is a 1K Kids Fun Run will begin at 10:30 am, all children participating in the race receive a prize provided by Wilbur's of Maine. Yum!  No registration required for the fun run. ITS ALL ABOUT the after party!!   Race is followed by a FREE after race BBQ, with LIVE Band (TBD), with FREE food from Buck's BBQ in Freeport and FREE adult beverage tent  for all racers and their families.
