2023 Glastonbury Education Foundation 5K Run/Walk:
(f.k.a. Bill Landers Building Bridges 5K)

In-Person Race:  Saturday, May 13, 2023 – Glastonbury Hubbard Green (8:30 a.m.) 

The Glastonbury Education Foundation 5K Run/Walk (or “GEF5K”) is a rebranding of the Bill Landers Building Bridges Memorial Hybrid 5K Run/Walk (or "BL5K"), which the Foundation has sponsored in Glastonbury, Connecticut, since 2008. 

The 15th annual event will feature in-person and virtual options in 2023.  First, an in-person race will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Hubbard Green in Glastonbury.  The in-person race will begin at 8:30 a.m., and travel along the former BL5K route, with bib chip timing.  The in-person race is sanctioned, and serves as a qualifier for the Manchester Road Race.  Parking for the in-person race will be available at Glastonbury High School, 330 Hubbard Street in Glastonbury.

Second, a virtual race will be held between May 3 and May 13, 2023.  Participants in the virtual race may run, jog or walk a 5K (3.1 mile) race in locations of their choosing – indoors on a treadmill, along the former BL5K route, or along any other outdoor route.  

Participants in the virtual race must record their distances and times using a standard run-type application (e.g., Runkeeper, Nike Run Club, Strava, Adidas Running, Map My Run, or others) and return to the registration site to enter their time, or to simply indicate that they finished the race.  Virtual bibs and finisher certificates will be provided to those who choose the virtual option. 

The GEF5K is sponsored by the Glastonbury Education Foundation, and enhances the Foundation's ability to fund programs, projects and initiatives that elevate the educational experience of Glastonbury residents.  Proceeds from the GEF5K will be used to award scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to a graduating senior of Glastonbury High School who attends a public or private four-year university in Connecticut.  The presenting sponsor for the 2023 Glastonbury Education Foundation 5K Run/Walk is Melocowsky & Melocowsky Law Firm of Glastonbury.

• Run through the Buttonball neighborhood area near the Hubbard Green.
• The 5K route is certified and sanctioned by USA Track & Field.
