What's a Jerry Can?
These 5-gallon vessels are synonymous with water collection in Africa as they are used to carry the water villagers bathe in, cook with and drink. The first 200 participants registered with will offered the opportunity to carry a jerry can (optional) and symbolically "Walk the Walk" of many global citizens who must rely on these containers to collect their daily water. We suggest this is only for those of you who plan to walk the trail and not the runners.
To reach the Bear Creek Staging Area on Bear Creek Road, exit Highway 24 at the Orinda/Camino Pablo exit and head toward Richmond. Turn right on Bear Creek Road and travel 5 miles to the staging area on the right.
