Runners enjoy a post-event Tailgate Party at Sports Authority Field at Mile High complete with a complimentary lunch, Avery beer, live entertainment and activities for kids. Since its inception, more than 15,000 people have participated in Fans on the Field. In 2009 the race was awarded the Best 10k in Colorado designation by Colorado Runner Magazine and was featured in 5280 Top of the Town Amazing Races. The 2011 Fans on the Field sold out at 5,000 participants. Because of the NSCD and events like Fans on the Field, thousands of children and adults with disabilities are able to participate in outdoor recreation and organized athletics learning more about sports and themselves.
