2012 Tryptophan Half Marathon & 5K:
Come celebrate Thanksgiving and earn your desserts. We have a Half Marathon & 5K. This inaugural event is expected to sell out early, so don't put off registration.
Pacing, Finishing, & Timing:In order to maintain a safe course, and have an awards ceremony before the morning ends, the course will officially close at 10:30 am (3 hours after the race starts). Any participants still on the course will need to move to the sidewalksAwards:Awards will be given out at 10:45 am. All finishers of the Half Marathon will receive a custom finisher medal. Special awards to top 3 men and women. Awards will also be handed out to the top 3 in each 5 year age group starting at 19 & under (10 & under for the Turkey Trot 5K) and going through 65 years & older.Shirts & Goodies:All participants registered by 11/14 will receive a long sleeve moisture wicking shirt (kid sizes may not be moisture wicking). We'll also have custom bags full of some great goodies.Water, Aid, & Potties:Water will be located just past the 2 mile mark, and approximately every 1.5 miles thereafter. Each stop after mile 4 will have energy drink as well. Aid stations after mile 7 will also have pretzels, bananas, and other items. There will be several points along the course with port-a-potties.Parking:Arrive early...parking will be available at The shops at Brannon Crossing as well as across the street at The Avenues.Course:We'll be running on Peachtree Parkway from Ronald Reagan to Johns Creek Parkway, and back again. Great course! Please see the event website for a course map, elevation and video.Event Schedule:Wednesday Nov. 21...10:00 am - 4:00 pm packet pickup and late registration (if not sold out). Thursday Nov. 22...6:00 am - 7:15 am packet pickup for Half Marathon. 7:30 am Half Marathon starts. 6:00 am - 8:15 am packet pickup for the 5K. 8:30 am 5K starts.Five Star Turkey Trot:This race is a 5K open to all ages, and paces. The event is FREE to anyone who has participated in a Five Star Event over the year (registration via mail required). 1st time Five Star participants can register on line ($10 for a bib & a time, $25 includes a shirt)Entry Fee & Registration:Downloadable registration forms are available through the race website. Entry fees for the half marathon are $55 through 9/30, $65 afterwards. Entry for the Turkey Trot 5K is $25 ($10 with no shirt) through 11/14.Course Entertainment:We'll have music, cheering volunteers, and several points along the course to keep your spirits high, and keep your energy up.
