2009 RAP River Run 5K:
  • The RAP River 5K is a run/walk is for everyone - whether youre a seasoned runner, an early-riser, trying to get back into shape, someone who likes to take a leisurely walk along the banks of a river or just want to make new friends, consider taking part in this our second 5K charity race to support the RAP House Shelter.
  • Registration should begin at 6:30AM, at Sims Park.
  • The pre-race food, such as granola bars and bananas, will help provide that energy boost before you burn a few calories.
  • We even have coffee available for those folks who dont usually wake up this early on a Saturday.
  • The fee for participating in the 5K will be only $15.00, and proceeds will be help kids who are victims of abuse or neglect, runaways, or local kids dealing with crisis whose families are trying to learn new ways of coping.
  • Sponsorships are also available.

    5K Race Course:
  • The course starts at Bank Street and Main Street, goes around Orange Lake and meanders along the beautiful Pithlachascotee River.
  • It loops back and ends at Orange Lake.
  • The Championship Chip system is being used to give us quick, accurate results.
  • The course is certified.
  • We are committed to making the RAP River Run one of the best events in the Tampa Bay area.
  • We also thank you for supporting the RAP House and giving our children a pathway to hope.

  • Follow the Directions on Mapquest to Sims Park in New Port Richey.
  • The park is off Main Street a few blocks north of State Road 54 near U.S. 19

  • Do you know someone who hates school? Feels frustrated? Is thinking of running away? Maybe has problems with drugs or alcohol? Many local youth are just looking to find someone to talk to.
  • It is good that here in Pasco we have a place that can help our local youth and their families.
  • The counselors at RAP House have helped many to feel safe and comfortable and theyve been doing so since 1982!
  • The RAP House is a safe place for youth ages 10-17.
  • Youth or families in crisis can call the shelter 24/7 at (727) 835-1777.

    2008 RAP River Run 5K:
  • The inaugural RAP River Run in June 2008 had a total of 462 runners and walkers far exceeding all our expectations. Participants loved the event and the scenic course.
  • Jacki Wachtel was the overall winner in 2008. The male winner was Jared VanBemmel One runner commented You did a fantastic job (ole pros) never would have known it was your first event by the ease in which you guys handled everything.
  • With the amount of runners participating you didn't run out of anything. I can't imagine how you'd improve but I bet you do! I'll bet one day you're a premier event in Florida maybe even nationally.
  • We all must not forget the youngsters; I'm sure the Giver of Gifts was and will shine upon you, the Kids, and the Event.
