Description

The inaugural Mountain High Outfitters - Birmingham Stage race will be held on three mountains, in three parks, in Birmingham. The first stage will be at Ruffner Mountain Park, the second stage at Red Mountain Park, and the Final Stage at Oak Mountain State Park.
The Stage Race will be held over three consecutive days and will equal 50 total miles. The race will be very demanding.  All three stages will be primarily on single track trails and some of these trails are very technical.  Although none of the mountains are over 600 feet above the surrounding terrain, Ruffner and Oak Mountain will have some tough climbs and descents.  This race will not be a "walk in the park."  Some of the trails we will use at Oak Mountain have never been used in a race
Runners may also enter the 2 Day, 2 Mountain Race on Saturday and Sunday, to be run concurrently with the 3 day race.  Runners can also sign up for any one stage at a reduced price but will not receive race shirts or be eligible for awards.
Course Info

Stage 2 - Red Mountain Park -  Red Mountain has very runnable trails with minimal elevation gain.  Part of the route follows old railroad beds and are relatively flat.  Most trails are very well maintained although there are a lot of roots.  The temptation will be to run this stage hard.  Remember, the Oak Mountain stage will be the toughest.  The Red Mountain stage will also two laps of the park.
Red Mountain Park has added an exciting attraction that your family may want to check out during the race.  Excerpt from the website, "Take an exciting aerial adventure through Birminghams past.  Youll be transported from one tree house to the next by a series of zip lines and sky bridges!"  If your kids want to take the tour you will need to make reservations early.  The Zip Line Tour does fill up on weekends.
