Description
2013 Course Of Hope 5K Run:
Run with Course of Hope for our inaugural race to help bring impoverished children around the world a better future.
In conjunction with Cypress Meadows Community Church, we provide food for the homeless in Downtown Clearwater, FL on a weekly basis. As well as provide back to school items, clothing, Christmas presents, and food for local struggling families.
Around the world we are connected to Haiti and Kenya. In Haiti we have provided over 100 families with potable clean water, as well as for the school and church that we partner with. We sponsor 300 Haitian children to allow them the opportunity to attend school. Without an education, children become indentured servants or are sent to the streets.
We have started a chicken farm as well as micro-enterprises to help the community on the road to become self-sustaining. In Kenya we have built the premier orphanage, Springs of Hope Kenya. Ours has become the standard for all others to meet.
We house, feed, love and educate 34 children in the orphanage.
Outside of the orphanage, we sponsor 50 former street boys to attend a boarding school.
These boys have gone from huffing glue to stay warm and forget about their hunger to becoming great citizens of the community and are excelling in their schooling. Springs of Hope Kenya has also started a sewing project to provide income for AIDS widows.
This project is called Bagamoyo (lay down your heart).
