Brian Thomas 5k Paint Race was started with a few groups of teachers who wanted to help a fellow educator. Brian Thomas, an avid runner, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma Cancer. Brian Thomas prior to the diagnoses was responsible for many runs which raised awareness and funds for many terminal diseases. During his treatment, his family at Okeeheelee MIddle School came together to help in way possible including, shirt sales, donated sick days, and of course a local 5k race. In its 3rd year since its inception, Brian Thomas has made great strides in his recovery. The race has a new purpose now, to help members of its Okeeheelee Family. Funds will be donated to members of the Okeeheelee Middle School Family who have been affected by diseases such as that Mr. Thomas had.
