_ The 2018 Johnston Health Champions 5K & 10K:
Welcome to Johnston Health Foundation's CHAMPIONS 5K & 10K event, presented byHealthQuest Fitness and Wellness Center. This year's event features our 7th CHAMPIONS 5K, 3rd 5K Dog Run/Walk, and 2nd Annual CHAMPIONS 10K Run. It is a timed run and fun walk event for all ages and fitness levels – definitely family, pet and stroller friendly.

Why join Champions 5K/10K?
1) We are using USATF Certified Courses. See our 5K & 10K course maps below.
2) We will have Accurate Electronic Timing.
3) The registration fee includes the timer, a shirt, snacks, water, awards, and other sponsor goodies.
4) We are supporting 2 great causes!
Race proceeds will benefit two (2) charities programs under the Johnston Health Foundation (at each runner's request):

You don’t have to check-in on race day if you already picked up your packet on April 13. The packet will include your t-shirt, race bib with timer chip, pins, and event day reminders.
7am-7pm - Pre-event offline registrations accepted @ HealthQuest.
Saturday, April 14, 2018, RACE DAY!
8:00-8:45am | Onsite Registration & Participant Check in. Have selfie & team photos taken. Visit sponsor tents & Kids zone. Honor your loved ones by writing their names on our Tribute Wall.
8:40 am | Opening program
8:50 am | Pre-walk/Run Warmups
9:00 am | 10K Run & 5K Walk/Run Kicks Off (1st wave: Runners; 2nd Wave- Dogs Runners; 3rd wave: Walkers; 4th wave: Dog Walkers).
10:00 am | Returning participants to visit sponsor stations, enjoy healthy snacks, an hour of line dancing and Zumba. Kids games begin.
11:00 am (or earlier) | Awards Ceremony
11:40am | Event ends
INCENTIVES:
An incentive prize will be given away to the team with the most # of registered members, and the most creative team name. Teams with at least 50 registered participants will get a free hospitality tent on event day! Anonymous judges will be picking out individual winners of our SPIRIT AWARD, so come with high energy and creative outfits!
AWARDS:
Awards will be given to top three finishers of the 5K event in each age division. Male and Female categories:
Trophies will be given to the top three (3) 5K runners and top three (3) 10K runners in both male and female categories.
Awards will be given to the top 5K three (3) registered dogs in both male and female owner categories.
EVENT DAY INFORMATION:
What to expect:
Start and Finish lines. Start and finish strong - you will be rewarded with a Champions 5K & 10K event collectible item when you cross the finish line.
5K Dog walk/run. Let your dogs lead the way - register them. They can win prizes too! For safety at the event, they must be on a fixed leash at all times.
Workout Plaza. For pre-race warm ups and stretches, and post race line dancing, and Zumba exercises by our HealthQuest fitness instructors Frankie Benavidez and Gwen Collins.
Tribute Wall. Write the name or post a photo of the person you will be running/walking for on our tribute wall.
Meet our survivors! - If you are a cancer survivor, you may pick up stickers at the check in tent, so we can celebrate your survivorship with you.
Selfie Station. Take those cools photos with our selfie frame and fun props. Post and share on social media using #JHChamps #JHChamps5K10K #WeAreChampions
Snack Station. Refresh yourself at with healthy snacks after the race, sponsored by Sheetz.
Kids Zone. We will set up a Tattoo and Face painting, and coloring stations before the race. Mascots will be there to welcome your family. Kids can participate in fun relay games after your walk/run, led by volunteers from our Johnston Health Early Learning Center. Parents are requested to always accompany their kids since we are at an outdoor space. The Kids Zone will close when the race starts, and will reopen when participants return.
Pet Zone. Your pets can play and cool off at dog bathing pools. Meet some dogs there available for adoption!
Meet our Healthy Kids! Graduates of our Healthy Kids Program are in shape and are able to compete in the 5K race as a result of their fitness program scholarship.
Hydration Stations. Available along the route!
Walk & Run at ease! Thanks to the support of the Smithfield Police, Public Works & Parks & Recreation Departments, we are setup to provide you with a great experience.
