_ The 2021 Spook Hill Cider & Wine 4 Mile Run:
Spook Hill is back for 2021! We are hoping to be able to use the scenic, traditional 4-mile hybrid road/XC course that winds through historic Burkittsville (yes, the Blair Witch town), Boordy's South Mountain Vineyard, historic Burkittsville Union Cemetery, and the Distillery Lane Ciderworks' orchard. *In the event that coronavirus restrictions dictate that we go to an extended starting wave process, we may have to drop the mileage down to 5K and delete the orchard loop to ensure runner safety.
***UPDATE AS OF 5/24/2021: Our field capacity has now been raised to 350 due to the relaxation of pandemic restrictions! The field will initially be capped at 225 participants. Traditionally, we've sold out at 500 slots, so registering early is recommended! Once the cap has been reached, we will institute a no-risk waiting list and if coronavirus gathering restriction numbers are raised, we will consider increasing the number of participants and invite those on the waitlist to register.
Make a weekend of it. Spook Hill's companion event, the Makin' Hay 10K takes place on Sunday, October 17th this year!
Visit the participating wineries/cideries/eateries on the Spook Hill Tasting Trail after your run. DLC, Antietam Creek Vineyards, Orchid Cellar, and Willow Oaks will all be offering specials for our participants - your race bib will have ticket stubs for redemption.
Overland Timing is providing timing services.
Accolades: Spook Hill was named by Competitor.com in 2014 as a "Must Do" fall race in the Mid-Atlantic Region. The race has been featured by Runner's World Magazine in 2015 and 2018! Join us in 2021 to see what you've been missing!
Race Date:
Saturday, October 16, 2021.
***UPDATE 5/24/2021: Unless pandemic restrictions are reinstated, we have decided to go with our traditional, 8:30 a.m. E. Main St. mass start. Tentative race day schedule: 0800 first participant starts on the course; 0830 final participant/course sweep crosses the starting line; 0945 course closes.
Note: No dogs permitted and no jogging/running strollers are allowed on the course.
