Dyer-Lake CASA Mission and Purpose:
The purpose and mission of the Dyer-Lake CASA organization is to provide well trained individuals, as volunteers, to be available for the Dyer and Lake County Court System to act as child advocates for abused and neglected children under the guardian ad litem – special advocate rules and regulations for the state of Tennessee. The organization acts as child advocates for abused and neglected children through written and verbal reporting to judges. Use of funds will be to train those volunteers that will initially become advocates for the children that are in the court system due to abuse and neglect. The Junior Auxiliary of Dyer County is a 501 c3 non-profit organization that completes service projects in our local community to help at-risk children and families. Our local chapter is one of 97 chapters in seven states under the direction of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries founded in Greenville, MS in 1941. The Dyer County chapter began services to meet the unmet needs of our community in 2016 and continues to reach out to help families break the cycle of dependency. Each year, women in our community are nominated to become Provisional members, who undergo 6 months of training about the local Chapter, the National Organization, and its constitution, policies, and projects, in order to join the Chapter as active voting members once training is complete. These nominated women help our chapter continue to make an impact on children’s lives. Some of the Service and Child Welfare projects our chapter has completed in the last year include mentoring and assisting a local family in need through our Adopt-A-Family project, providing Christmas Assistance and meals to families in need, helping kids get outside and stay active through our Unplugged Project in the park, Bunny Bash event at our local library where kids come for free for arts and crafts, meet the Easter Bunny and so much more. Our Chapter is a brand new chapter to our community, so we are slowly adding more projects to our plate for the years to come. Our primary source of funding comes from our local Finance projects, including our Shopping Frenzy at Flirty Birds Boutique. We have plans in the making for more Finance Projects for the 2018-2019 year. Use of these funds will go towards funding our child welfare project and other community projects throughout the year.
We are excited about this event and hope that you will join us on April 14th.
