_ The 2022 Alameda Island Aquathlon:- CANCELLED
From The Race Registration Website:
"The Memorial weekend Aquathlon and 5k has been postponed for this year due to logistical challenges with the swim course and the event date. We were working closely with the various groups to try and make it work, but there just wasn't enough time to guarantee the event would happen, and we didn't want to take that risk.
If you registered you will receive a full refund and we are already looking at a better date and venue for 2023. stay tuned! "
For 2022 we are bringing a new and exciting addition to the fitness events on the Island. Alameda is known for its beautiful running trails and beaches, so we decided to add a Swim/Run to our list of events this year. The Alameda Aquathlon (think splash and dash) will feature a 750 yard swim in the beautiful bay followed by a 5k run up and down shoreline. And if you are not ready to get your feet wet, we will offer a 5k run option as well. The 5k run will start at 9am, followed by the Swim/Run kicking off at 10am to coincide with the tide tables on the Alameda shoreline. The swim will be a triangular course that takes you out towards Ballena Bay, and then down towards the end of the beach, then back along the shoreline before exiting near the kite shack. the 5k is a scenic out and back along the shoreline trail. The entire event will be off the roads and away from city traffic, but the run trail will be open to other pedestrians. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Alameda Hospital Foundation and the races will take place on Memorial weekend, Sunday May 29th.
